To be eligible for trade-in, your device must generally be in good working condition and pass our inspection and grading process. Devices with any of the following conditions may be rejected for trade-in or may receive a reduced trade-in value:

Unable to power on;

  • Touchscreen is not functioning properly;
  • Signs of liquid ingress, water damage or corrosion;
  • Burnt, damaged, cracked or discoloured display screen;
  • Missing parts, components or accessories required for normal operation;
  • Bloated, swollen or damaged battery;
  • Reported, listed or reasonably suspected to be lost, stolen, counterfeit or subject to any ownership dispute; or
  • Any other fault, defect or condition that, in M1's sole discretion, materially affects the device's functionality, value or safety.

If you are unsure whether your device qualifies, you may submit a trade-in request. All devices are subject to inspection and grading by M1 or its authorised trade-in partner upon collection or receipt of the device. Any preliminary quotation provided is indicative only and is subject to confirmation following inspection. M1 reserves the right to revise the trade-in value offered or reject the device for trade-in based on the actual condition of the device.

Only devices in their original state with all original parts are accepted for trade-in. If your device has been modified, it won’t be eligible.

To remove locks or accounts, just follow the steps in these guides:

Once your device has been factory reset, your data can’t be recovered. Please remember to back up your important files before you reset or trade in your device.

Routers and 3G mobile phones cannot be traded in. You can check the list of eligible device models accepted at M1 Shops here.
