What is SIM card?
SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. The SIM card is an integral part of your mobile phone. It must be inserted into your mobile phone in order to access M1's network.
How do I prevent unauthorised use of my SIM Card?
To prevent unauthorised use, the SIM card comes with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) of between four and eight digits. By default, the PIN feature in your new SIM card is turned off. When you first activate the PIN feature, you are requested to enter the temporary PIN as 1234.
How do I use the PIN security feature?
Once the PIN feature is activated, you need to enter the correct PIN whenever you switch on your mobile phone. Should an incorrect PIN be keyed in three times consecutively, your SIM card will be locked and you will be prompted for Personal Unblocking Key (PUK). For PUK, please call our Customer Service Hotline at 1627 or 1622 (corporate customers only). Ten failed attempts to key in the correct PUK will invalidate the SIM card permanently. You will then have to purchase a new SIM card to replace the invalidated card.
How do I change my PIN?
You can change your PIN by following this simple procedure: Enter
< temporary/old PIN> < new PIN> < new PIN>
For security reasons, please memorise your new PIN and keep it confidential. Store it separately should you want to keep a record of your PIN.
How should I protect my SIM card from damage?
Avoid bending the card.
The gold contact plate should be kept clean at all times.
Avoid scratching or making unnecessary insertion or removal of the SIM Card.
Avoid exposing the card to extreme temperatures (above 85°C). Standard temperature range for the card would be between -25°C to +85°C.
Use your SIM card for intended purposes only and with approved GSM mobile phones.
M1 is not liable for damages or loss of SIM card resulting from its improper use.
