  1. What is M1’s 5G SA?
    The next enhancement phase of 5G technology is 5G Standalone (5G SA) which is able to offer the full suite of 5G network capabilities that operates independently of 4G network infrastructure. This new network will offer amazing fast speed, close to real-time network response time and massive connectivity that will enable new mobile broadband experience and empower new digital experience that we have not seen before.

  2. How do I enjoy 5G on M1?
    All M1 plans are now 5G enabled. Simply subscribe to any of our Bespoke Plans to enjoy seamless 5G. Be sure you are on a 5G SIM and has a 5G enabled device

  3. I've got a 5G device and a 5G plan but I'm not able to connect to 5G network. What do I need to do?
    To enjoy seamless and undisrupted 5G network, you'll need to be on a 5G SA enabled device, a 5G SIM card, a 5G enabled plan and the right 5G settings on your device. Once you have these combination, you'll be able to enjoy our True 5G experience when in M1's 5G coverage areas.

  6. How do I know whether I am connected to 5G?
    You should be able to see a 5G icon at the top of your device. If you do not see it, please check that you have the following:
    • An active 5Go Access subscription
    • A 5G SA enabled device
    • A 5G SIM card
    • Device is set to the correct 5G settings
    • Within M1’s 5G network coverage


  7. If I am not in the 5G network area, what will happen?
    You will continue to enjoy undisrupted 4G connectivity when not in the 5G network area.

  8. With the introduction of 5G, what will happen to the 4G network?
    M1’s 4G network will still be available for our customers.

  9. What is the expected speeds on 5G?
    • Theoretical Downlink Throughput: ~ 1Gbps
    • Typical Downlink: 100 to 700 Mbps
    • Theoretical Uplink Throughput: 40 to 90 Mbps*
    • Typical Uplink: 10 to 40 Mbps
    • *Dependent on device support


  10. Is 5G available when roaming overseas?
    M1’s 5G is available within Singapore only. We are continuously working with our roaming partners to expand our service reach.

  11. Is 5G MMS available on SA network?
    No. MMS is not supported.

  1. What is 5Go Access?
    • M1’s 5Go Access allows our customer to get access to our 5G network. You will need to have this activated to enjoy 5G. All M1’s Bespoke plans now comes with FREE 5Go Plus until further notice


  2. Which bill plans are eligible for 5Go Access?
    Customers on Bespoke Flexi, Bespoke Contract, Bespoke SIM-Only and Family Plan are eligible to subscribe to our 5Go Access..

  3. How do I sign-up or activate my 5Go Access?
    • All M1’s Bespoke plans now comes with FREE 5Go Access until further notice. You will immediately get it activated when you sign up or change to the eligible plans. Alternatively, you may activate 5Go Plus via My M1+ App.


  4. Can I use 5Go Access data bundle when I am not in 5G coverage area?
    Yes, the 5Go Access data bundle can also be used on 4G network.

  1. Why do I need a 5G SIM?
    A new 5G SIM card is required to enable you to seamlessly connect to M1’s 5G SA network along with a 5G SA compatible device.

  2. What is the difference between 4G SIM & 5G SIM?
    A new 5G SIM card is required to enable you to seamlessly connect to M1’s 5G SA network along with a 5G SA compatible device. 5G Standalone (5G SA) which is able to offer the full suite of 5G network capabilities that operates independently of 4G network infrastructure. This new network will offer amazing fast speed, close to real-time network response time and massive connectivity that will enable new mobile broadband experience and empower new digital experience that we have not seen before. The 5G SIM card is backward compatible with our existing 5G SA, 4G & 3G network.

  3. How do I get a new 5G SIM?
    5G SIM Card is issued by default for all New & Port-in Customers. For existing customers, you can get a new 5G SIM card for free when you subscribe to 5Go Plus or you can request to upgrade you existing 4G SIM card to a new 5G SIM Card for free at any M1 Shop or via our MyM1+ App.

  4. Do I have to pay to get a new 5G SIM?
    As part of launch promotions, you can get a new 5G SIM card for free (U.P. $ 37.80) until further notice.

  5. How do I get a new 5G SIM?
    5G SIM Card is issued by default for all New & Port-in Customers. For existing customers on a 4G SIM card, you can get a new 5G SIM card for FREE (U.P. $37.80) when you subscribe to a 5G plan or request for a SIM upgrade at any of our M1 shop, call in 1623 or via our MyM1+ App.

  6. Will I be able to use 5G if I am on a 4G handset with a 5G SIM?
    No. You will need a 5G compatible handset to enjoy 5G.

  7. Will the 5G SIM work in a non-5G area?
    Yes. The device shall work on available 4G network in the area.

  8. How do I know if I am on a 5G SIM card already?
    You may check the back of your current M1 SIM card for a description “3-5G”. That means you are on a 5G SIM. Otherwise, we encourage you to upgrade to a 5G SIM. At this point, all eSIM are non-5G enabled.

Apple Device Setting

Get onto the latest software:
  • Open “Settings
  • Scroll down and select “General
  • Click on “Software Update
  • Tap “Install Now


Once you’re on the latest software:
  • Go to “Settings
  • Select “Mobile Data
  • Select “Mobile Data Options
  • Select “Voice & Data
  • Set to “5G On
  • Make sure to have “5G Standalone” turned on.

 

Samsung Device Setting

Get onto the latest software:
  • Open “Settings
  • Click on “Software Update
  • Select “Mobile Data Options
  • Tap “Download and Install
  • Press “Install”after the download is complete


Once you’re on the latest software:
  • Go to “Settings
  • Select “Connections
  • Select “Mobile Networks
  • Select “Network Mode
  • Set to “5G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)

 

Huawei Device Setting

Get onto the latest software:
  • Open “Settings
  • Scroll down and select “System & update
  • Click on “Software Update


Once you’re on the latest software:
  • Go to “Settings
  • Select “Mobile Network
  • Select “Mobile Data
  • Select “Preferred Network Mode
  • Set to “NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto

 

Oppo Device Setting

Get onto the latest software:
  • Open “Settings
  • Click on “Software Update


Once you’re on the latest software:
  • Go to “Settings
  • Select “SIM Card & Mobile Data
  • Select “SIM 1 or SIM 2”– Depending on where your 5G line is
  • Select “Preferred Network Type
  • Set to “5G/4G/3G/2G (Auto)

 

Vivo Device Setting

Get onto the latest software:
  • Open “Settings
  • Click on “Software Update


Once you’re on the latest software:
  • Go to “Settings
  • Select “Mobile networks
  • Select “SIM 1 or SIM 2”– Depending on where your 5G line is
  • Select “Network Mode
  • Set to “5G (preferred)/4G/3G/2G

 

Xiaomi Device Setting

Get onto the latest software:
  • Open “Settings
  • Scroll down and select “About Phone
  • Under MIUI version, click “Update
  • Download “Update
  • Ensure MIUI version is at “12.5.3.0


Once you’re on the latest software:
  • Go to “Settings
  • Select “SIM cards & Mobile Networks
  • Select “Advanced Settings
  • Select “Select 5G network mode
  • Set to “SA + NSA
