Mr Gerald Yong

Mr Gerald Yong was appointed to the Board of M1 on 12 August 2022.

Mr Yong was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Cuscaden Peak Investments Private Limited (formerly known as Singapore Press Holdings Limited) on 16 May 2022. Cuscaden Peak Investments Private Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cuscaden Peak Pte. Ltd., a consortium made up of three shareholders - Hotel Properties Limited; CLA Real Estate Holdings Pte. Ltd. and Mapletree Investments Pte. Ltd. It has businesses in Retail & Commercial, including SPH REIT, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Aged Care and other portfolio investments.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr Yong was Chief Executive Officer (Special Projects) at CapitaLand Group Pte. Ltd. (CapitaLand). CapitaLand is one of Asia’s largest diversified real estate groups and its portfolio spans across diversified real estate classes which include integrated developments, retail, office, lodging, residential, business parks, industrial, logistics and data centres. Mr Yong was also previously Chief Executive Officer, International at CapitaLand Investment Limited (CLI), responsible for overseeing the growth and asset management of CLI’s real estate portfolio in developed markets outside Singapore, including USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and Korea.

Prior to his role in CLI, Mr Yong was Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Head, CapitaLand International since 2018, responsible for leading the Group’s expansion into new markets. He was Chief Investment Officer of The Ascott Limited (Ascott) from 2012 to 2017, where he helped drive Ascott’s growth and entry into new markets as well as mergers and acquisitions in USA and Australia. Before that, Mr Yong oversaw investment and business development in North Asia, based in Shanghai, China.

Mr Yong holds a Second Class (Upper) Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore on a SembCorp Industries scholarship, as well as an MBA with Distinction from Imperial College Business School, UK on a Raffles–Chevening Scholarship. Mr Yong is presently also a Board Director of the Singapore Environmental Council.
