    Data Usage Alert is an SMS alert service for M1 postpaid customers to be notified when their local data usage is at 75%, 90% and 100% of data bundle, based on their billing cycle.

  2. What are the charges for Data Usage Alert?

    Data Usage Alert is free.

  3. If I am on a non-Data Bundled plan, can I use Data Usage Alert?

    No, Data Usage Alert is only available for customers on selected Data Bundled plans (which excludes plans with unlimited data bundles).

  4. Can I customise or have more Data Usage Alerts?

    No, the alerts are fixed at 75%, 90% and 100% of your total data bundle (inclusive of Data+ add-ons, Senior or Youth Benefits and etc, if applicable).

  5. I did not receive the SMS alerts. Why is this so?

    You may not receive SMS alerts if your handset is not switched on or cellular/mobile data setting is disabled (for example on flight mode) or if your SIM card is used in certain devices such as mobile broadband modems and tablets that do not have capability to receive SMS.

  6. Will my Data Passport usage be included in Data Usage Alert?

    Yes, it will be included if your Data Passport has been activated prior to data roaming.

  7. Can I subscribe for Data Usage Alert for my Mobile Broadband plan?

    Yes, if your plan is one of the eligible plans.

    Please note that you may not receive SMS alerts if your SIM card is used in certain devices such as mobile broadband modems and tablets that do not have capability to receive SMS.

  8. If I have 2 SurfShare lines sharing my main line’s data bundle, will I receive SMS alerts on all 3 lines?

    Yes, you will receive the SMS alert on all 3 lines.

    Please note that you may not receive SMS alerts if your handset is not switched on or not logged onto an active data session (for example on WiFi or on flight mode) or if your SIM card is used in certain devices such as mobile broadband modems and tablets that does not have capability to receive SMS.

  9. I am billed on the 1st of every month. I changed my plan / subscribed to Data+ Add-on / Upsized Data / added Youth/Senior Benefits on 13th this month. Will I still receive the SMS alerts for that month?

    The tracking of usage for Data Usage Alert will be reset in the following instances:

    • Activation of Data Usage Alert
    • Account maintenance which results in the change in data bundle (such as change in mobile plan, addition or termination of Data+ Add-on / Upsized Data, addition or expiry of free data benefits)
    • Change of billing cycle

    You will receive SMS alerts if you have used 75%/90%/100% of your new data bundle.
