Lending a helping hand

M1 is actively involved in the community, engaging and building relations with the various segments of Singapore society. In supporting a range of causes and activities, we demonstrate our care, concern and commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.

As an avid supporter of the arts, and together with The Necessary Stage, we presented the 12th edition of the annual M1 Singapore Fringe Festival with the theme “Art & the Animal”, in January 2016.

In an effort to enliven Singapore’s dance landscape for contemporary dance works and contribute to the advancement of this art form, we expanded our support of the arts in 2011 with long-term sponsorships of two leading homegrown contemporary dance schools - T.H.E Dance Company and Frontier Danceland, to help nurture the growth of local dance and dance talents.

In 2015, we also saw the staging of the second edition of M1 Chinese Theatre Festival and the sixth edition of M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival. The M1 Dancing on the Frontier Appreciation Series launched in 2014, continued to introduce contemporary dance to secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

In recognition of our sustained support to Singapore’s arts scene over the years, M1 was presented with a special SG50 Arts Patron Award by the National Arts Council in 2015.

M1’s participation in the sports arena may be represented by our continued support towards Netball Singapore's initiatives including the promotion of the sport in schools, at the clubs and national levels with the M1 Talent Identification Programme and M1 Schools Challenge League. Since 2013, we have been hosting Singapore's biggest mixed-corporate annual netball competition - the M1 Corporate Netball Challenge, to promote the sport and healthy lifestyle to working adults.

In 2015, M1 launched M1 Students Support Fund to benefit less advantaged students from 10 primary schools with school-related expenses.

Continuing our philanthropy spirit, our annually staged M1 Charity Golf and M1 Charity Carnival, are two key fund-raising events that further accentuate our contribution to our adopted charities, and which are passionately supported by our staff, business partners and associates.

Some of the beneficiaries who have benefited from M1’s contribution are the underprivileged children, at-risk-youths, the hearing-impaired, people with physical disabilities and the elderly.

M1’s adopted charities are Beyond Social Services, Brahm Centre and Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association.

Beyond fund-raising, M1’s employees express unwavering enthusiasm and dedication by investing their personal time to bring cheer to the children of our adopted charities during the school holidays and festive occasions, with the organisation of interesting and fun-filled activities, throughout the year.
