My child wants a new handset. How do I keep the previous KidSAFE controls? |
| |
Check to ensure that the new handset is KidSAFE-enabled-and-approved. Presently, the Samsung SGH-E200 works with KidSAFE. |
| |
| 2. |
What are the different mobile plans that I can sign-up on KidSAFE? |
| |
You can sign-up for KidSAFE on SunShare or DIY plan. |
| |
| 3. |
How much does it cost to subscribe to KidSAFE? |
| |
KidSAFE is currently available as a free Value Added Service (VAS) for any parent who signs up on any SunShare Plan (1st 12 months free only, thereafter $3 monthly) or $3 per month on DIY plan |

I am an existing M1 customer who just signed up for a SunShare plan with a 2-year handset contract. I would like to maintain my plan but switch to a KidSAFE VAS. Can I still purchase the Samsung SGH E200 handset at 2-year handset price ($48)? |
No, you are only eligible for the 2-year handset price of Samsung SGH E200 handset if you signed up a 2-year contract with M1. It will not be available to customers who are already on 2-year handset contract. |

My Child wants a new handset. How do I keep the previous KidSAFE controls? |
Presently, only Samsung SGH-E200 works with KidSAFE. To keep the previous KidSAFE control on the new handset, simply reset the Parent Alert. If you do not, you will continue to receive SMS indicating that your child’s SIM has been placed in another phone. |

My Child placed his SIM in another handset but i did not receive an SMS alert. What do I do? |
Please check that your own mobile number has been entered correctly and reset the Parent Alert if your number has changed. |
| 7. |
I can see a number in the phonebook but my child can't call or text it. |
Please check that that the contact is stored on the SIM rather than on the phone. Go through the Update process again. The contact may have been added since you last approved the numbers on your child’s phone. Try dialing the number from another phone to check that it is valid. You can approve a maximum of 40 numbers. If there are more than that on the SIM, remove some of them and approve the numbers again. |

My child can call or send texts but can't receive them from the same person. What's happening? |
| a |
The incoming number has to be the same as the one in the phonebook. |
| b |
Often, when someone dials out from a building with more than one phone line, the switchboard number, rather than the direct line extension, is the one that registers on the protected phone. To fix this, enter both numbers in the phone-or get the person to use a mobile that has an approved number. |
| c |
For your child's security, KidSAFE does not allow unknown numbers or identities to connect. If the caller is using a mobile, they need to change their call settings so that their caller ID is visible. Sometimes, a call made through a switchboard will not show the caller's identity. Again, the caller should use an approved number to call the protected phone. |
| 9. |
What if the dialing format of the incoming number is different from that entered in the phone book? |
We recommend that you enter all numbers using the full international prefix dialing code, for example +6598765432. |

I can see a 'Blocked Action' from a service address. What is this? |
You will see 'Blocked Action' when a non-standard dialing number (such as a mix of numbers and letters) has attempted to contact your child. This usually means that a telephone operator or a company has attempted to send a message. |
| 11. |
I can see only the last 10 blocked actions. Why? |
That's normal. KidSAFE stores the details of only the last ten blocked actions. These are overwritten as more blocked actions are recorded. |
| 12. |
I have set my phone number as the parent alert number, however my child cannot call or text it. Why is this? |
Setting the parents number in the parent alert does not automatically add it to the list of approved numbers. The solution is to add the parent number to the SIM phone book as normal and run the approval process. |
| 13. |
My child's phone is displaying a message saying that the SMS Inbox is running out of space. What is this and what action should be taken? |
The sms inbox can hold 28 messages. You will receive SMS reminders when your inbox is full. Once the SMS messages exceed 28, KidSAFE will delete old messages to make space for the new incomming SMS messages.
To avoid this, please clear your inbox when you receive this message and save all important SMS messages into the phone.
| 14. |
I noticed that my child's phone will disconnect and restart by itself. Is this normal? |
Yes, this is normal. Your child's phone will disconnect and / or reboot by itself sometimes as this is necessary in order for the phone and application to continue to block out unrestricted access to your child's phone. |
| 15. |
Why is it that I cannot use my foreign operator's SIM card with the Samsung SGH E200 phone? |
This phone is only meant for use with local SIM cards and may not work with SIM cards outside Singapore. |
| 16. |
What are the value-added services that I can use with KidSAFE? |
Currently, caller number display, caller number non-display and roaming subscription are available as value-added services for KidSAFE. |
| |
| 17. |
Can my child access Internet from the phone? |
| |
No. Internet access is restricted to KidSAFE users to minimize phone bill charges as well as the exposure of un-intended contents to the child. |
| |
| 18. |
Am I able to video-call my child? |
| |
No, currently KidSAFE is only available on 1 phone only, i.e. Samsung SGH E200. This is a 2G phone and is not available for video calling. |
