About M1
In 1997, M1 entered Singapore's mobile telecommunications scene and broke the previous monopoly. It wasn't long before we had many Singaporeans walking on sunshine. Our company's short history is marked with many successes, including these celebrated milestones.

2012
M1 led in Customer Satisfaction Index1 (CSISG) for the mobile telecom sector for third consecutive year.
The iPhone 5 made its debut at all M1 shops and selected exclusive dealer shops at 8:00am on 21 September 2012.
M1 launched first nationwide 4G service in South East Asia on 15 September 2012.
M1 launched two new Near Field Communications (NFC) services - M1 NFC Prepaid MasterCard and EZ-link CEPAS, in collaboration with MasterCard and EZ-link.
M1 customers were the first to get their hands on the new iPad in Singapore at our 12:01am launch on 16 March, at our Paragon Shop.
 

2011
Midnight launch of the iPhone 4S at Paragon flagship store on 28 October and special 7am-store openings at six M1 stores and four selected exclusive dealer shops.
First telco in Singapore to launch LTE network with initial coverage in the financial district and nationwide coverage scheduled for first quarter 2012.
 

2010
M1 launched 1box – delivering internet on television to the homes of M1’s fibre, cable and ADSL home broadband customers, with an array of compelling lifestyle and entertainment content and services.
First operator in Singapore to provide ultra high-speed fibre broadband services, of up to 1 Gbps, to residential and corporate customers, via the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network.

Launched mFix - Singapore’s first remote technical support service for personal computers and smartphones.

Midnight launch of the iPhone 4 at the Paragon flagship store. Introduction of non-contractual dedicated 3G data plans for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G, with 7.2Mbps (downlink) and 2Mbps (uplink) speeds.
Debut of M1 AppStore – allowing customers access to a wide selection of applications from games, entertainment, sports, social networking, education and utilities; applicable across multiple platforms.
Announced company name change to M1 Limited, from MobileOne Limited, to reflect M1’s evolution to a full-service telecommunications company offering fixed and mobile voice and broadband services.
 

2009
Launched iPhone 3GS on 9 December and led the market by offering the most attractive iPhone tariff plans to Singaporeans.
First operator in Asia Pacific to adopt MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology for its HSPA+ network and achieved Singapore's fastest download speeds of 28 Mbps in October.
First operator in Asia to launch MiFi, the industry's first ultra portable credit card-sized Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, and revolutionalised the use of mobile broadband.
Acquired Qala, an Internet service provider experienced in offering data and communications services to enterprise customers.
Launched Singapore's first prepaid broadband service.
Chief Financial Officer Karen Kooi appointed as M1's Chief Executive Officer.
Introduced Take 3, a revolutionary handset programme that allows customers to get the phone of their choice without any upfront costs.

2008
First operator in Singapore and Asia to go 'live' with nationwide downlink speed of 14.4 Mbps and uplink speed of 5.76 Mbps in November.
Entered the fixed broadband market with speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
Launched M1 KidSAFE, the world's first mobile service aimed at providing safe and secure usage of mobile phones for children.

2007
Launched the island's first location-based SMS advertising (LBA) service to offer retailers in Singapore a more effective channel of communication with consumers
Revolutionised text messaging with the launch of SMS2.0, an application which combines messaging, content and advertising for a richer messaging experience
First operator in Singapore to offer 3G prepaid SIM card
Celebrated 10th anniversary with 10,000 free phone give-away
Launched meTV, Singapore's first video sharing service on mobile phones
Entered Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong Broadband Ltd to participate in Singapore's Next Generation Broadband Network project

2006
Launched its mobile broadband service over the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network
Became first operator in Singapore to roll out HSDPA in December 2006
M1 customers among the first to access podcasts and blogging on their mobile phones
Offered Singapore's first 'group sharing' tariff plan for businesses
Launched new brand campaign, "Make your World Mobile with M1", to communicate the benefits of mobility anywhere and anytime
M1 and Celcom first to offer free 3G video calls between Singapore and Malaysia to M1 customers

2005
Partnered Philippines' leading mobile operator, Smart Communications, to provide prepaid mobile services to the Filipino community in Singapore
First mobile operator in Singapore to offer one single data tariff for roaming customers on Vodafone networks
Partnered MediaCorp Studios to offer Asia's first 3G Mandarin mobi-drama - P.S. I Luv U
Launched 3G with Singapore's first video call price plan
Introduced Singapore's only prepaid card with free incoming calls

2004
Introduced new tagline - ‘1 life. live it’, in a new brand campaign
Signed up with Taiwanese pop band, 5566, to provide a range of exclusive mobile content
Launched POINT, Singapore’s first music recognition service
Partnered Google to offer Asia’s first wireless image search for mobile phones
Conducted trials for Push-to-Talk in July
First in Singapore and among first in Asia to offer pre-paid customers direct dial when roaming

2003
Launched Singapore's first sports news service on MMS
M1 and four other Asian mobile operators formed the Asian Mobility Initiative
Introduced new mobile service plans offering free incoming calls
Signed a Partner Network Agreement with Vodafone Group, making M1 Vodafone's exclusive partner in Singapore, and its first partner in the Asia-Pacific region
Showcased a suite of 3G services over its 3G network, in preparation for launch
in the second half of 2004
Launched Singapore's first MMS service for prepaid cards

2002
Launched Ask Carey, Singapore's first counselling service via SMS
Introduced Singapore's first flexible mobile plan which allows customers to use

Launched the CDMA network, the second mobile network
Introduced Info on Demand service, the first mobile phone service in Singapore to provide financial and other information via SMS

Gained 10% of market share in Singapore within a month of service launch in April
